Scott Nelson is an experienced corporate transactional lawyer who has spent his entire legal career focused on the representation of leading private equity funds and sponsors in all aspects of their investment and transactional activity (buy-out, growth equity, ‘bolt-on’ acquisitions, ‘post-investment disposals’, transaction structuring and exits). He will be based in the London and Edinburgh offices.
Scott’s exposure to such activity in international emerging markets and, in particular, Africa has allowed him to gain significant experience managing large complex and cross-border sponsor related transactions in some of the more challenging areas of the world to execute and deliver for clients. Prior to joining Rooney Nimmo, he was a global partner at Baker Mackenzie based between London and Johannesburg and previously Head of Private Equity (Africa-wide) for one of Africa’s most prestigious law firms, which is also its largest. Scott has represented some of the most significant sponsors focussed on, and operating in, the markets in which he has been principally involved and has been rated as a leading lawyer in this regard by Chambers and Partners Global from 2012.
He was educated at the University of Edinburgh (LLB) and completed his post-graduate legal examinations at the same school.
Scott is a solicitor qualified in Scotland and England and Wales.
